Richard Tanner, Principal & Founder:
Richard Tanner has more than 13 years experience in biological research and project management focused on sensitive, threatened and endangered species.
Mr. Tanner holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in Natural Resources, Wildlife Management from Humboldt State University. While at Humboldt, Mr. Tanner studied the threatened Northern Spotted Owl in Redwood National and State Parks. He has continued his work on the Spotted Owl in the mountain ranges of southern California as the project manager, and now principal, on numerous California Spotted Owl habitat assessment and population monitoring projects for the US Forest Service, Southern California Edison and other private interests.
In addition, Mr. Tanner has managed projects on nesting bald eagles, construction projects monitoring for impacts to threatened and endangered species and has an extensive background assessing impacts to and surveying for sensitive flora and fauna across southern California.
Staff:
TES employs biologists permitted for the surveying of threatened and endangered herptile species including the red-legged frog, the mountain yellow-legged frog, the arroyo toad, the California tiger salamander, the southern rubber boa, and the desert tortoise as well as the handling of red-legged frogs and California tiger salamanders (including drift fence surveys). Our biologists are permitted for both surveying and nest monitoring of the California gnatcatcher, the least bell’s vireo, the southwestern willow flycatcher. In addition, TES has a network of firms and specialists with expertise and permits to handle projects of any nature.
